Ride Kentucky

The Black Mtn Off-Road Adventure Park, Harlan Co, Ky, opened in June 2004, and when I seen 2600 people in our little town that day I knew we had been sitting on black gold,(coal) but knew then we were sitting on yet another gold mine as well.

Since then the ATV Club Harlan Co. Ridge Runners have had very little time off, as we meet and greet, give FREE guides, to just about everyone that comes by to see us, our now famous community campfire is the place where we have made many life long friends, know how the kids did in school, family issues, we laugh with them, and in bad and sad times we keep them in our prayers as well.

We have 8,000 acres mapped/marked another 58,000 acres off park rides...cost to ride...FREE...cost for a guide...FREE as well...note: off park does need a guide until mapped.

Home of the Guinness World Record ATV Parade June 24th 2006. Next door to the new up and coming ATV Club Bell Co. Holler Crawlers, and when we hook up with them we will have over 80,000 acres to ride between us. We are just across the Mtn from the Trailblazers ATV Club in Hyden, KY and a trail to them is just down the road.

Need info about our ride/event schedule, directions, lodging, videos and pics of our area and much more click here: www.kyoutdoors.org

The Evarts Trail Head...BIRTH PLACE OF ADVENTURE TOURISM...Evarts, Ky is the only trail head in Ky where you can ride your toy thru town for gas, food, supplies, bank, car wash, etc....go slow, need helmet, obey all laws and be OK. We have 31 rental home/apts, cabins, 2 RV campgrounds; motel only 10 minutes away, some of the best down home cooking can be had here as well.

Every trail head has to have rules, laws, regulations to govern by...the trail head partners with the ATV Club to promote 2 VERY IMPORTANT RULES AS WELL.

Rule No.1 You Gotta Have Fun

To the locals, it has always been known as Mountain Drive. Know it will enter a new phase of its life as Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park.

A pristine stretch of land in eastern Bell County comprised of beautiful plateaus, roaring mountain streams, and deep hollers.

On top of the mountain you get the feeling of almost being in the old west...on a primitive frontier landscape. Rolling, grassy fields and scrub brush...and yes...even cattle dot the landscape. Wilderness as far as the eye can see. Then you look beyond the pastures and you immediately realize...You're on top of a mountain! A glance to the north will give you a view of the Pine Mountain Range...And looking to the south will offer a view of the towering Cumberland Mountain range.

Mountain Drive (aka Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park) has been extensively mined and beautifully reclaimed over the past half century. After coal and lumber operations ceased on the property, large sections were leveled and reclaimed as pasture land, in an area where flat pasture land was a luxury of the highest degree.

Through the generosity of Asher Land and Mineral, our club has obtained the right to develop 9,000 acres of this property into an off-roaders dream come true. The future park will stretch from the Colmar region in the west to the end of Hances Ridge in the east, with more land hoping to be added down the road to connect in with the already world famous trail riding in Harlan County. The entrance will be the locally-famous "Bridge To Nowhere"...which will now be a Bridge to Somewhere. Somewhere beautiful.

The park is also bordered on the north end by the famous Cumberland River and will be accessible from our trailhead area, where visitors can enjoy some great kayaking an canoeing, as well as river smallmouth and walleye fishing! And speaking of fishing, Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park also has numerous ponds that contain largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie, which our visitors can fish on the terms of catch and release. All that is required to enjoy some great fishing is a valid Kentucky fishing license!

As a club we are also planning on developing camping and picnicking areas throughout the property.

Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park offers riding of all kinds...there is truly something for everyone. For beginning riders, you can cruise for hours upon end on easy, flat gravel roads...taking in the sights of the beautiful mountain ranges on either side and watching all kinds of wild life. For those who enjoy a bit more of a thrill, Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park also contains miles of wooded trails, ranging from easy to extreme. Pick your poison!
