An interesting thing happened today. Sunday I had registered on the Michigan Interactive forum and requested some trail information, specifically, "are snowmobile trails legal for atv's to ride on". I never received a response and today my post was deleted with no explanation. You don't have to tell me twice that I am not welcome so,,,,Michigan Interactive, thanks for nothing.

I have never deleted anyone's post without an explanation. I asked a legitimate question and didn't even get a explanation in a pm or e-mail. I would guess they don't want atv's on the snowmobile trails but can they not tell me that. I don't think they are very tourists friendly so I will not bother them again. My guess would be that Michigan Interactive (Fish Web) is for people from Michigan and they can do without us hicks.

I thought Michigan wanted tourism. I must have been thinking about Kentucky.
Hickboy out.

Now that I have had a chance to cool off a little I would like to explain to all of you why I got so steamed over my posts being deleted. Our group collectively spent at least $10,000 in the U.P. of Michigan last week. We followed all the rules, had a DNR permit thanks to MI-TRALE, were covered by the HCRR insurance policy and we were very orderly and created no problems and obeyed Michigan and local laws. From my perspective, we were a model group but I have come to expect that from you people.

Now, I log onto Michigan Interactive Community (Fish Web) to ask legitimate questions so I can plan a future trip to the U.P. where we will spend at least another $10,000 and my posts get deleted and I receive no explanation. This in itself is enough to rile me but I also remember last year when ATV Nation had already booked lodging in the U.P. for their national ride and plans were being finalized and a few individuals created so many problems for them over the "permit" thing that they changed their ride to South Dakota and the fine people of the U.P. were left holding the bag, and a net loss. I can not help but wonder if this is the same mentality working here or even some of the same people. So, what can you say to a few people on a web site that does something like this? They are childish and obviously could really care less about the merchants that gained from our trip and the gain they will see when we go back. But they lost a chunk when the Nation switched to South Dakota. The people in the U.P. are a fine bunch and I can say that I have now met new friends in them. As for the Michigan web people, you guys are the "losers".

Hello Cutter!
Just thought I would try to help with your dilema of ATV's on U.P. snowmobile trails. For some background, we are not original yoopers. We are originally from Munster, Indana, fellw Hoosiers! We now live in Iron County, Mi. and operate a resort, restaurant-cabins directly on the ATV trail. This trail is also a snowmobile trail. Here in Iron County we have a loop of apx. 55 miles that connects the cities of Crystal Falls and Iron River. The loop also connects with trails in northern Wisconsin and a trail west out of Iron River to Marenisco that is maintained by the Mi-Trale group. This is a multi use trail because it is all either State, City or County owned land, it passes through no private land. In the U.P. that is "usually" the deciding factor wether a trail is able to be used by snowmobiles and ATV's. We also have other snowmobile trails that do cross private land and gates are up at their borders and ATV riding is prohibited. Iron County does, though, allow ATV's to be operated on County Roads, so getting around private land is possible. With the trail system we have and the County roads, Iron County has hundreds of miles to ride!! If you have any other question, or if we can help further give us a call at The Chippewa Resort (906) 875-3117. Or if you are in the area stop by, we are located 4 miles west of Crystal Falls on Highway U.S.2. Or e-mail, al@chippewaresort.com
And remember, when you are riding the trails, Ride Smart, Ride Safe!

Thank you Al. I really appreciate your post and believe me, if I am ever near Crystal Falls, I will drop in. It seems that 99% of the U.P. people are aboslutely fantastic, I can't say that for some of those from the lower part of MI. And chances are, I will be near Crystal Falls yet this year.
